Bartending Q&A

"I'm reaching out to you because it seems to be a big deal when trying to seek a Bartending position. I was hired in April at a beautiful resort in NY and regretfully, had to quit yesterday or be fired. The trouble is that I'm 48, don't look it but my peers are much younger. The chef in charge at the resort was seeking ways to get rid of me but everyone (all the college youngins) liked me. Anyway, after enduring much abuse during the past month I quit.

If you can offer any advice or direction it would be appreciated."

A lot of your website is primarily focused on the resume aspect. This obviously important in order to get hired... but what about the skills needed on the job?? Does your program also include a section on the skill necessary to make drinks and the know-hows of bartending (that is easy to understand for a novice ...such as me). It would be a shame if I got the job, but then miserably fail to reach the standards of the superiors."

"Jeremy, my issue -- I am an attractive tall blonde that no one takes seriously. Every job I have had, people think I am the owner because I care that much about the place that I work. However, trying to communicate that to prospective employers, they look at me and think that I am just hot and I am over selling myself. But I know better. In previous jobs, I have had as many female regulars as male, that's because I am damn good at what I do! Tell me how to properly communicate this."
