I Almost Gagged
I went to a niceĀ upscale restaurant in Kitsilano with a good friend of mine last night… we ordered drinks and had them served… I go to take a sip and, WOH, the glass smelt like a sour rag!
I passed it to my friend and said, “Do me a favor and smell this glass.”
He immediately went, “YIKES, send it back!”
Now, this an upscale restaurant I’m talking about here. I frequent this place as the food and service is phenomenal. I might expect this in some dirt hole of an establishment, but not this one.
Sure, mistakes happen. But what do you think is the first thing I’ll think of when this restaurant is mentioned or I am contemplating eating there in the future?
Make sure your glasses are clean when working the bar! And if you’re wiping them dry with a rag, make sure the rag is clean!
And never, ever reuse a rag from the day before. Your rags should be washed after every shift.
I had a similar thing happen a few weeks ago when the bartender wiped the bar in front of me with a nauseatingly foul rag, I had to stand back from the bar it was so bad andĀ ask the dude to wipe it again with a fresh one.
Please, don’t turn off a customer with such an easily preventable mistake.
